Having been interested in photography since he was a youngster, frequently borrowing his parent's camera when he went on class trips to the museum or zoo, Forrest purchased his first SLR, a Minolta XG7, in 1978 and began documenting family vacations and other events. In 1997, he purchased his first digital camera, a Kodak DC120. Digital photography freed him from the photo lab, allowing him to experiment and learn without the high cost of developing film. After taking an interest in astrophotography, in 2003 he upgraded to his first digital SLR...a Canon EOS 10D...and currently uses the Canon EOS 1D Mark II N.

Forrest's subject matter ranges from Astrophotography to Wildlife. His photos have appeared on websites of various professional organizations, colleges and clubs, and in a number of publications including newspapers, corporate newsletters and magazines.
