Comet Tempel and Impact of Deep Impact Spacecraft

This Flash animation shows the impact of the Deep Impact spacecraft on Comet Tempel. Shown are approximately 10 frames prior to the impact and 10 frames after the impact. All frames are carefully processed to ensure that the same processing is applied.

Images taken with TEC-140 Telescope mounted on Losmandy G11 mount. Camera used was a Canon EOS20D used at prime focus.

Each frame is a 3 minute exposure that is dark, flat, and bias compensated. All frames have the same background removal and Digital Development (and noise) removal filters applied. Captured and processed in ImagesPlus 2.75  Beta 1. ImagesReady used to generate Flash animation.
