Galaxy NGC6946 in Cephus also showing supernova SN2004et.
A large Sc-type 11th magnitude spiral galaxy with a size of 9.0' x 7.5'. Appears to be one of the nearest galaxies not part of the local group at a distance of about 15 million light years. Known for an unusual number of supernovae and for being a radio source.
Note, if you hold your mouse over this, you will see Supernova SN2002et in this galaxy.
Images taken with TEC-140 Telescope mounted on Losmandy G11 mount. Camera used was a Canon EOS20D used at prime focus.
