Globular Cluster M79 in Lepus

The distance to this globular cluster is around 50,000 light years and its diameter is about 110 light years.

This cluster needs a fairly large amount of aperture before it can be fully appreciated.

Images taken with TEC-140 Telescope mounted on Losmandy G11 mount. Camera used was a Canon EOS20D used at prime focus.

Five 3 minute exposures dark compensated, aligned and stacked, background removed and Digitaly Developed in ImagesPlus 2.75.
