Galaxy M77 in Cetus
This is a bright and compact spiral galaxy. It is the chief member of a small group of galaxies that contains NGC1055 among others. This galaxy has a large red shift and likely lies at a distance of 60 million light years and a diameter of up to 100,000 light years. This galaxy is also a "Seyfert" galaxy.
If you move the mouse over this galaxy, it will show you its environs which also contain NGC1055 and (barely visible) NGC1072.
Images taken with TEC-140 Telescope mounted on Losmandy G11 mount. Camera used was a Canon EOS20D used at prime focus.
