Galaxy M60 in Virgo

This is a small (25,000 light year diameter) bright, very massive (1 trillion solar mass) elliptical galaxy in Virgo. This galaxy is paired with the spiral galaxy NGC4647 right next to it. Galaxies NGC4637 andNGC4638 lie at the bottom of this image as well. Again, if you put the mouse over this image you will see it along with M9.

Several other small galaxies can be seen in this image.

Images taken with TEC-140 Telescope mounted on Losmandy G11 mount. Camera used was a Canon EOS20D used at prime focus.

Thirteen 3 minute exposures dark compensated, aligned and stacked, background removed and Digitaly Developed in ImagesPlus 2.75 Beta 2.
