Galaxy M59 in Virgo

This is a small (24,000 light year diameter) dense (250 billion solar mass) elliptical galaxy in Virgo. This galaxy is near several others in Virgo. If you put the mouse over this image you will see it along with M60.

Several other small galaxies can be seen in this image including NGC4607 in the upper right.

Images taken with TEC-140 Telescope mounted on Losmandy G11 mount. Camera used was a Canon EOS20D used at prime focus.
