Open Cluster M37 in Auriga A superb open cluster in Auriga. This cluster contains about 150 stars. The population is significantly older than that of M36 (another open cluster in Auriga) at around 200 million years. This cluster contains atg least a dozen red giants one of which can be seen near the center of the cluster. The distance to this cluster is about 4700 light years and its diameter is about 25 light years. Images taken with TEC-140 Telescope mounted on Losmandy G11 mount. Camera used was a Canon EOS20D used at prime focus. Three 1 minute exposures dark compensated, aligned and stacked, background removed and Digitaly Developed in ImagesPlus 2.10 beta 5. |
