Open cluster M35 in Gemini A fine open star cluster containing over 300 stars located at about 2200 light years. The diameter of the cluster is about 30 light years. The cluster contains several yellow and orange giants. Note open cluster NGC2158 (5.0' x 5.0' and magnitude 8.6) on right side of image. This is a rich and distant cluster that may be a transition case between an open cluster and a globular cluster. The distance to this cluster is probably about 16,000 light years. Images taken with TEC-140 Telescope mounted on Losmandy G11 mount. Camera used was a Canon EOS20D used at prime focus. Three 1 minute exposures dark compensated, aligned and stacked, background removed and Digitaly Developed in ImagesPlus 2.10 |
