M1/NGC1952 Crab Nebula

Crab Nebula (M1) in Taurus

Supernova remnant in the constellation of Taurus. The nova associated with this 6 light year in diameter object likely occurred in 1054 AD. The distance to this nebula is about 6300 light years.

Note that the Crab nebula is also one of the brightest radio objects in the sky. At the center of the nebula is the Crab pulsar, a neutron star with a diameter of a few miles rotating 30 times per second.

Images taken with TEC-140 Telescope mounted on Losmandy G11 mount. Camera used was a Canon EOS20D used at prime focus.
