Saggitarius Milky Way

This is the southern Milky Way area in the constellation Saggitarius

This is a section of the Milky Way. The bright nebula in the middle is the Lagoon nebula, M8. To the right of this, you can see the Triffid Nebula, M20. Just below the Triffid is hte open cluster M21. The globular cluster NGC6544 can be seen just at the star of the denser portion of stars below the Lagoon. Other dark and open clusters are easily visible on this image.

Images taken with a Canon EOS20D with a 200mm f2.8L II lens wide open. This was riding on a TEC-140 Telescope mounted on Losmandy G11 mount.

Fifteen 3 minute exposures focus and acquired; dark, flat, and bias compensated; aligned and stacked; background removed and Digitaly Developed in ImagesPlus 2.50.
