Globular Cluster M55 in  Saggitarius

A large and loosely structured globular cluster in Saggitarius. Note that the stars in the center of this cluster tend to be dim (magnitude 17+) and it takes a larger aperture for the center to really fill in like a typical globular cluster. This cluster is at a distance of about 20,000 light years and has a diameter of about 80 light years.

Images taken with TEC-140 Telescope mounted on Losmandy G11 mount. Camera used was a Canon EOS20D used at prime focus.

Five 1 minute exposures dark, flat and bias compensated, aligned and stacked, background removed and Digitaly Developed in ImagesPlus 2.75 Beta 2c.
