Globular Cluster M30 in Capricorn

A globular cluster noticably elliptical in shape. This globular has a fairly dense core about 1.5' in size but the whole cluster is about 6' in diameter. The cluster is located at a distance of 40,000 light years and has a diameter of aobut 100 light years.

The bright star just above the cluster is a double star 41 Capricorni whose components are magnitude 5.5 and magnitude 12 with a separation of 12" (the dimmer star is lost in the brighter's glow in this image.

Images taken with TEC-140 Telescope mounted on Losmandy G11 mount. Camera used was a Canon EOS20D used at prime focus.

Three 1 minute exposures dark compensated, aligned and stacked, background removed and Digitaly Developed in ImagesPlus 2.10 beta 5.
